I work at Derivco in an office overlooking the Indian Ocean, in La Lucia, Durban. My views couldn’t be much better. At the office I manage a high performing, small team of developers, whose sole role is to resolve live issues with our products world wide. I sleep, eat and breathe their career growth, as well as being involved technically in the team. I blog about random musings, usually technical, or about my son. I don’t blog often. Catch me on Twitter if you want more frequent updates. Even there I update at most once a week. You can email if you want. I respond to everything, apart from spam.
Even more information
I’m married to the most beautiful person in the world, Bianca. We have a son, Kyle, who is overly adorable. We have another that arrived 3 months ago, Ayla. Most of my free time is spent with my family. I like wine, cheese, craft beer, food, good British Humour, playing guitar, Lego MindStorms and camping, amongst many things. Some say I do too much. I try to do everything. At least once. I’ve tried golf, skate boarding, mountain biking, road cycling and kite boarding. Each of those with varying degrees of success. I dabbled in some game development once, or twice. We were (mostly) successful.
My Background
My father bought me a ZX Spectrum (128K+2 for those that remember) back in 1988. It was the start of a love affair with programming that still stands. I have a love for programming languages and have had experience in many languages, ranging from assembly to Go, Java to C#, C to C++, Haskell, Ruby, Pascal, Delphi, Visual Basic, and many others.
